Book Of Mormon ...Halloween?

So we finished the Book of Mormon as a family!
To celebrate we had a Book of Mormon celebration and
remembered some of the things we learned from that great book!
We made barges like the brother of Jared...ours were a bit
tastier made with pretzel's, peanut butter and "pitched" with melted chocolate!
We remembered the great FAITH of the brother of Jared!

We Remembered the great teachings of King Benjamin
and erected our own "tower" of sorts
We reviewed several of his Great teachings like...
"when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God!"
"...beware lest there shall arise contentions among you and ye list to obey the evil spirit..."
"Consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God!"
"Believe in God; believe that he is , and that the created all things ..that he has all wisdom, and all power..."
We ate the "tower"!
We re-enacted the vision of Lehi the prophet
with our own version of the tree of life
whose fruit was most desirable (candy)
We talked about how we can hold to the Rod and make it to the tree!

We remembered Captain Moroni and what a brave and valiant man he was.
We made our own title of Liberty.
We want to fight for our family to be an Eternal one!

I don't think the girls missed trick-or-treating at all! They went to bed on a
tree of life/king Benjamin tower sugar high. And hopefully with a little
stronger testimony of the truths of the Book Of Mormon!

Hawkey Football

Dan must be living right because all the stars aligned for him this weekend.
1. He got Friday afternoon "off" and came to the girls Halloween parade and Party
(that I was in charge of for Elli's class and boy was I glad he came)
2. While at work Friday a Secretary asked Dan if he wanted her tickets to the
Football game... 10th row 45 yard line!
3. He had Saturday off
4. It was the one game the Hospital threw a tailgate party for the residents...
so He and Abbi got to eat for free!
5. The weather was absolutely beautiful
6. He got to eat all of Abbi's Halloween candy while watching the game!

What a great Daddy daughter date!
I wish the stars would aligne for him every weekend!

HALLOWEEN 2010

This picture is just because I love Gwyn's eyelashes!

So this year Elli, Gwyn, Vivian and I were CATS... with cute black tutu's !
Abbi had the hardest time deciding what to be...we went through
several costume changes, but we ended up as a Mad Scientist!
I didn't get a great picture of her all dolled up but she was
pretty convincing!
I'm happy to say that I made all the costumes for under 12 dollars!
And the buckets...another after school activity were little spoofs from
pottery barn as were their cat tutu costumes that were selling for 49 bucks, yes and I
made mine for well way less!

Halloween Party

We had our annual Halloween/Fall party the girls
invited some friends and this year because Halloween is on Sunday we decided to
have it be a dress up...one more reason to wear the costume!
We had a blast we...
1. Had Halloween stories read by Abbi and Elli
2. Made spiders (oreos and pretzels) and Bats (crackers and apple wedges)
2. Played Boosical chairs (our Halloween version of musical chairs quite fun...in fact
it was so fun the girls continued to play for days after)
3. Had a toss your ghost into the haunted house game
4. Made our own SLIME
5. And a party wouldn't be complete with out a game of BAT Bingo!
I love my girls!

Frankenstein...and other afterschool fun!

Creating the Frankenstein pots was so much fun thankfully
we've had some beautiful days here in Iowa...

I love their little individual personalities!
Abbi's is far left Gwyn middle Elli's far right!
Our Spooky Halloween tree... a branch and pot spray painted with some cute
dollar candy dishes from target!
Mummies... rice crispy treats with white chocolate chips,
wrapped up like a mummy and put on sucker sticks.

This month I've tried to have fun activities for our girls to do after school and jobs are done
Honestly it's kind of selfish...when they know they
get to do something fun they don't wine about
their jobs as much!
Above is a sampling of the fun we've had!

Who says children don't listen to Conference?!@#

So we're  downstairs wrapping gifts for Abbi and Elli for birthday partys they have today and the following conversation happens while I'm looking up the address to one of the parties...
G: pretend playing a "video game" on a plastic princess phone
E: Gwynie you shouldn't play video games the Prophet said!
A: No, he said we should play them very little
E & G: Oh ya
G: trades for a book
A & E: continue to color their wrapped presents for friends.

Conference was FABULOUS... we love the words of living Prophets!

 Watermelon from our Garden!

We had a wonderful conference weekend. We ate like Kings, we listened to the words of living Prophets and we even got to roast marshmallows with friends while Dad was at priesthood session.
