Christmas tree

We went to a new lot this year...Daddy had a crazy schedule so we couldn't make the cut down your own tree lot (daylight is really helpful)...we found the perfect tree and named it "misty/moses" It was a bit chilly and Vivian ended up back in the car "driving" while the rest of us froze our keisters off! Alas success was had in a rather short time!

Pear Christmas Ornament

Items you need: Old light bulbs, twine, twig, ribbon, glue sticks and glue gun.
So to do this craft start at the bottom of the light bulb put a dot of glue stick your twine on and let it harden. Once the glue is hard use your hot glue gun to basically draw a circle around the base of the blub and then wrap your twine tightly around, repeat until you reach the top of the pear. Just before doing the last little wrap around put a dot of glue and cut your twig the size you want and stick it on. Let it dry then do your last wrap. Snip your twine and glue it down out of sight. Cut your desired ribbon choice (some of them I even just used the twine) put your dot of glue on both sides and stick your ribbon on.  There you have it...pure cuteness to put on your tree or give as a gift.
This is such a super fast and fun craft to do with your children. Each of my girls made one for their school teachers the tags I'm making to go with them say. You are a "Pear-fect" Teacher!  This year our tree theme is a "Partridge in a Pear Tree"

Thanksgiving 2011

This year we went low key...Dan being trauma Chief and all we had a quite little family dinner some fun outside play It was a gorgeous day and we were super blessed that the pager didn't go off once. After Dan got home from rounds he got to stay home... and for that I am truly thankful!
We did attempt some family pictures...but alas not with to much success.

Fall Fun

So surprise surprise Dan was out the door early with some infection in the OR so the girls and I bucked up and raked the leaves with out him...thankfully it was a beautiful day not really sunny but warm none the less...the girls couldn't keep their shoes, socks or coats on :) Dan did end up getting home around 1:30. I had just began  to make a picnic to have in the park so we lucked out and got to eat lunch with Dad in the park and play and enjoy the afternoon. These pictures of the day just make me smile...Vivian on her swing in the park behind our house. Emmi in the swing in our yard her form of we're busy raking leaves entertainment. The girls in the swimming pool...yes our multifaceted pool holds water in the summer and leaves in the fall and this winter it will be an awesome five girl sled to go down the side hills in our yard!

I am blessed!

Gobble Gobble...

So in preparing for Turkey Day the girls and I love to make this banner...we're going on the 4th year in a row. Super fun and a great way to involve your kiddos in Thanksgiving decorating!
 You need:
Twine string or ribbon to hang your banner with
hot glue gun
scissors
Construction paper
(or any paper you think would look cute you could use scrapbook paper in fall colors)
You start by going on a scavenger hunt in your yard or the park or mountains searching for things to create your letters with...once that's done head home and get creative!
I had previously drawn the letters on the paper to make it easier for my children to create. Use scissors to cut down your items and the glue gun to stick them on. I have used tacky craft glue and it works fine just takes a bit longer to dry but is more kid friendly. Using the glue gun is usually my job.
When you are done hang the letters on your twine or string either with clothes pins or by folding the top of the paper down 1/2" and tapping over the twine. This is my first year using clothes pins and I kind of like it!
Here is some of the individual creativity...I love how fun they turn out notice the crab apple on top of the pine cone for the letter I. And the accent on the letter A.

Another fun fast kid craft...painting pumpkin rocks we might just use these for these for thanksgiving "place cards"  all you need: rocks, orange paint I used tempera washable just because I have young children who tend to get messy! You could use pretty much any kind. Select a twig cut it to size and glue gun it on and wala Thanksgiving decor or write a name on it and use it  on your Thanksgiving table!
Last little Tom Turkeys...made with Oreo blonde cookies, snack size nutter butters, reeses pieces, m&m's black dot sprinkles, fruit roll ups and vanilla frosting tinted a light yellow.
Seriously my girls had a blast making these guys. I put the frosting in snack size baggies and cut the corner and let them go to town and this is what they made. Super easy and fun.

He Loves Me

So for my  birthday this year...my sweet hubby sent me these.
I am so lucky to have him!
Abbi had activity days...which was a manners night so they ate out at Olive Garden.
Dan was at a work related meeting and was on trauma call.
So it left Elli, Gwyn, Vivian, Emmi and I to share my birthday dinner and since I didn't want any
whining or complaining about food I made my girls favorite Chicken enchiladas. While I was at it I made a pan for a friend's family, and then another for a single working mom and her daughter. And when she came to pick it up on her way home from work...they just ended up eating dinner with us and taking their pan for another day. I made a double batch of eclairs and shared a plate with the neighbors, the family who picked abbi up for activity days and the couple meals I gave out...and had just enough left for me to eat oh 2 or 3...or maybe 4 ;)
I'm feeling younger already!
