Halloween

We had the ward trunk or treat...lots of fun only because I got to use this Halloween trunk decor quite appropriate don't ya think. I got this last year someone was throwing it away and I snagged it up for free.99. So glad Dan showed up for the last 20 min!

Carving pumpkins was an adventure this year...Elli's pumpkin was so hard we broke a couple knives just trying to carve it...mental note to self next year take a knife with you and check for carveabilitly!
This year for Halloween Abbi was a spy Vivian a frog, Gwyneth Cinderella, and Elli was a Unicorn. Making the unicorn was a fun challenge for me. Glad I only had one to make!
This is the first year I did not go trick or treating Emmiline and I stayed home and cleaned up our Orange dinner...we had dinner in a pumpkin, orange lemonade, cantaloupe and some other cool stuff I just can't remember because i'm writing this post on Nov. 15th.

Geode Hunting in Hamiliton IL

So we decided to try our hand at digging out our own Geodes ...
It was a bit of a dirty job but I think fun was had by all!

After Geode hunting we went to Dairy Queen and got lunch then
headed to the Nauvoo temple...I commented to Dan you know people
come thousands of miles to see this temple and this place and we
get to come here every month! We are so blessed!

Family Home Evening Hike

So we found this cute little hiking trail Saturday when we went and did our Day of Service with the ward...so Monday we planned our FHE around going to hike this trail. Abbi and Elli gave scripture and lesson in the Car. We ate our picnic dinner when we arrived. We hiked for activity and sang made up songs about hiking while we hiked. We made it to the look out point and had to hurry back before it got to dark! What a beautiful fall day it was...we love IOWA for all it's many colors!
Mental note to self...next time don't bring a stroller way to many steps, logs and the likes:)

Emmiline's Blessing

 Emmiline Jean Whitney
Blessed October 9th, 2011
8 weeks old (almost)

We blessed Emmiline today. It was a beautiful fall day.
President Andersen, President Hansen, Bishop Parker, Bro. Fletcher,
Ben Tingey, Andy Johnson, Ryan Christsen and her Daddy stood in the circle to bless her.         Honestly I didn't hear to much between Vivian whining in my ear and the dozen other children in the congregation who weren't to happy with another prayer :) I attempted to write it down but was thwarted by Vivian just know Emmi it was beautiful, and that your righteous priesthood holder of a Father gave it to you with love. Her dress was so beautiful. Grandma Whitney made it for her. Thanks Grandma!

General Conference!!

Boy did we have a great General Conference ...this was some of my prep work Lei's for one session they got to open one part of the Lei for each speaker...Fun dip chews a word every time it is said you can dip your stick and take a lick...
Conference Store  this had to be my favorite and I think I will make this our family tradition for every conference. I made tickets...even stitched across them so they ripped like real tickets and they won them when they were reverent or could answer a question about what was being talked on or who the speaker was etc... the girls loved this and I was amazed at how reverent they were. They got to use their tickets at this little store.

The girls look forward to Conference with as much anticipation as Christmas. We had such a wonderful weekend listening to the word of God.
